Abstract

A successful application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to a 30-year-old male with difficulties in accepting his bisexual orientation and with an erectile dysfunction is presented. This is a new application of a recently proposed therapy for treatment of so-called “experiential avoidance disorder”, whose efficacy is still being displayed through evidence from investigation. ACT elements which were emphasized and which seem to be more related with changes achieved are here pointed. Reflections about questions related to this case -as bisexuality, homophobia, gender roles and sexual identity- and perspective from where to raise intervention on homosexual behaviours are also provided.
