Mindfulness and stress managment in middle school

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

I am using the research from ACT to write a curriculum on mindfulness and emotional awareness for our middle school special education students. I would appreciate any suggestions on exercises or activities that would be appropriate for young adolescents.
I would like to adapt exercises such as truthful speaking, monsters on the bus, and self as context mindfulness exercises into my program. I am excited by this project because I finally got the green light from the guardians of the status quo to pilot a program. I would love to hear any suggestions from the members of this forum. I envision a theoretical foundation built on Rft, Act, Mbsr, and emotional intelligence. An example of the types of practices I am thinking of engaging are raisen eating meditation, listening with one's whole body/mind, and perhaps a simple biofeedback software program.

Thanks,

I would love to hear how your program is doing Alan.

I am working at a school here and would love to know how the program worked and if you are willing to share your ideas.
