In this series of 2 full day sessions, over 2 Fridays, participants will be introduced to and will practice the main techniques used in each of the six ACT core therapeutic processes: Acceptance, Experiential Avoidance, Cognitive Defusion, Contact with the Present Moment, Self as Context and Defining Valued Directions. You will be guided step-by step toward mastering these core processes by Mary Sawyer, an experienced ACT practitioner and trainer.

In the beginning Workshops you will:-

1.Learn the six ACT core processes and how to do the basic interventions for an ACT-based treatment.
2.Develop a greater understanding of what it is like to be an ACT client.
3.Obtain in session feedback on your implementation of ACT techniques in a small group.
4.Develop an understanding of ACT case conceptualisation.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to ACT and the hexaflex model and the remainder of time will be spent on a series of experiential and skills building exercises in pairs and the larger group. Mindfulness and experiential exercises will play a significant role throughout the workshops.

Target Audience: you are required to have completed an ACT Introductory workshop with Robyn Walser, Russ Harris, Mary Sawyer, Kelly Wilson, Steve Hayes or other ACT Trainers. For those who are new to ACT and struggle with practicing your new found ACT techniques or want to improve your skills, this is the workshop that provides you with compassionate guidance.
