Syracuse, NY - ACT Training with D.J. Moran
The seminar will discuss and demonstrate ACT techniques that may be broadly useful for intervening with multi-problem clients dealing with issues such as anxiety, substance abuse, depression, PTSD and human struggle. The seminar will provide clinicians with a basic understanding of ACT skills, and with personal experiences that will allow further development of these skills based on their application.
Much of the material covered will be an expansion from ACT in Practice (Bach & Moran, 2008) Objectives
•Describe the psychopathological impact of experiential avoidance.
• Explain how human language participates in suffering and affects our relationship with private internal experiences.
• Describe direct treatment implications related to experiential avoidance and non-acceptance.
• Describe the major steps in ACT.
• Explain how values work is used to support behavior change
